Welcome, one and all.

Initially Phil Welland set up the club in April 2000. After being a member of other local Mini clubs, as well as clubs that catered for different marques of car, Phil saw the need to start an Abingdon based Mini club, for, as far as Abingdon and the Mini are concerned, the history goes back almost to the start of Mini production.

As well all know the mini started production in August 1959. Abingdon was the home of the BMC Competitions Department and their first Mini competitors saw the light in January 1960, with three 850’s being entered into the Monte Carlo Rally. History was made with many class wins during the following years, as well as the famous victories in 1964, 1965 and 1967, (if not indeed, the controversial disqualification in 1966).

The main idea for the club was, a group of like-minded people that enjoy the Mini, but also enjoy being part of the club. Actually using the cars for all kinds of events is high on the agenda. Places the club have visited since the start are Switzerland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Austria, Monte-Carlo and Spain. With attendances at as many of the Mini events as possible through-out the year, as well as the annual International Mini Meeting, wherever it may be. we also hold many social events, including treasure hunts, bowling, Ace Cafe runs and the Xmas do as well as many others through out the year.

There is a broad band of knowledge throughout the club – from a full restoration – building a Race engine - Modifying – to polishing up for a show. One of us has done it at some time, and always willing to help each other.
